Tractor registrations in 2026 are back on a downward trend, with the third quarter recording a decline of more than three percentage points. As always, however, the downturn does not affect all manufacturers equally, with its impact varying considerably from one brand to another.

Here we go again. After posting growth of almost five percentage points in the first half of this year, tractor registrations returned to negative territory between June and September. The market declined by more than three percentage points, with 420 fewer registrations than in the same period last year. This confirms yet another year of commercial uncertainty for manufacturers, despite the positive figures recorded over the rolling 12-month period, which show growth of more than five per cent. This performance was driven by 17,132 registrations between October 2025 and September 2026, compared with the same period in 2024/2025.
Deutz-Fahr, Claas and Same in Positive Territory
Many of the industry’s major players have been affected by the downturn. Fendt, Massey Ferguson and Valtra, the three Agco brands, recorded a combined loss of 328 units. John Deere was down by 123 units, while Landini, McCormick and Valpadana, the three brands belonging to Argo Tractors, closed the period with 122 fewer registrations.
Also posting negative results, with a combined loss of 135 units, were Bcs, Ferrari and Pasquali. The Bcs Group is, however, facing a liquidity crisis, which it is hoped can be overcome. Antonio Carraro has certainly benefited from this situation, recording an increase of no fewer than 164 tractors.
Deutz-Fahr, Claas, Same, Kioti and Solis also posted growth, while Cnh brands Case Ih, New Holland and Steyr ended the period with figures broadly in line with the previous year. Kubota and Vst also returned to negative territory, although their losses remained relatively limited compared with their respective registration volumes.
Farmtrac and Startrac faced a more difficult period. Farmtrac, however, will soon be able to rely on Kubota’s dealer network to support sales of its compact tractors, as explained in a dedicated article published in the November issue of Macchine Trattori.
